Wire & Sinker EDM for Hardened Materials & Complex Features

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) achieves what conventional cutting cannot: micron-level precision on hardened materials, complex internal features, and intricate profiles with no cutting forces and no distortion.

EDM: Precision Without Limits on Material Hardness

EDM removes material through controlled electrical sparks rather than cutting forces, which means hardness is irrelevant. We can machine fully hardened tool steel, carbide, and exotic alloys to micron-level tolerances, producing features that conventional machining simply cannot achieve. Wire EDM and sinker EDM together cover virtually any EDM requirement.

Wire and sinker EDM services at Metalogic Industries

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) is the process of choice when conventional machining reaches its limits. Whether the challenge is extreme material hardness, complex internal geometry, or micro-precision features, EDM delivers results that no other process can match. Metalogic Industries offers both wire EDM and sinker EDM, covering the full spectrum of EDM applications.

What We Deliver in EDM (Wire & Sinker)

Wire EDM

Wire EDM uses a thin brass wire electrode to cut complex 2D profiles through any electrically conductive material, regardless of hardness. Ideal for intricate external profiles, internal cutouts, and parts that must be machined after heat treatment.

Sinker EDM

Sinker EDM (also called ram EDM or die-sinking EDM) uses a shaped electrode to erode complex cavities, pockets, and features into a workpiece. Essential for die cavities, blind pockets, and features with no tool access.

Hardened Material Capability

EDM is completely unaffected by material hardness; we routinely machine fully hardened D2, H13, and other tool steels, as well as carbide and exotic alloys, to tolerances that would be impossible with conventional machining.

Micro-Precision Features

EDM achieves positional accuracies and feature sizes that conventional machining cannot approach. Slot widths, hole diameters, and profile tolerances in the micron range are achievable with our EDM equipment.
